The Wireless Leadership Summit (WLS 2020) hosted annually by the Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA), is virtual this year. We welcome our members and leaders from across the land mobile radio industry to participate for three days of informative educational sessions and networking opportunities from October 13-15, 2020.
This year’s program explores new opportunities and trends in areas that affect the private land mobile radio industry such as cybersecurity and post-COVID-19 workforce strategies; broadband solutions being introduced utilizing 3.5 GHz CBRS and 900 MHz spectrum; as well as providing updates on critical Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rule changes and policies that will affect virtually everyone involved in wireless communications. Our keynote speakers are world-class.
On behalf of the EWA Board of Directors and staff, we extend to you our cordial invitation to join us this October for a successful, productive, virtual Summit.
Mark E. Crosby
President and CEO
Enterprise Wireless Alliance
How often have you attended the Wireless Leadership Summit?
Now that spectrum sharing seems to be the future, what is your level of confidence with an FCC-approved spectrum administrator or SAS?
Join EWA President Mark Crosby and Chris Guttman-McCabe, founder and Chief Executive Officer of CGM Advisors, for a wide ranging discussion of the future of wireless communications.
Do you or your customers have interest in private LTE broadband?
The FCC has adopted new rules authorizing broadband licenses in the 900 MHz band. What are the next steps for private enterprises regarding access to this spectrum? Who are the first customers? What are the products? In a conversation with EWA Board Chairman David Reeves, Anterix Chief Operating Officer Ryan Gerbrandt will answer these questions and more.
What are the technological and other challenges to future spectrum sharing? What bands are the next likely candidates for sharing? What new technologies now being tested hold the most promise for spectrum sharing? Ira Keltz, Deputy Chief of the FCC Office of Engineering and Technology will share his perspective on these and other questions. Mr. Keltz and the FCC Office of Engineering and Technology are on the front lines of the discussions that shape the spectrum policy of today and tomorrow.
During Happy Hour Networking, attendees could join sponsored tables with representatives from JVCKENWOOD USA Corp., Icom America, Leonardo, Mission Critical Communications, Motorola Solutions, Rimot, and Unication/Prism-IP. EWA hosted tables with critical topics such as 800 MHz and T-Band Opportunities, Broken FCC Policies: DTV Repacking and 4.9 GHz, Licensing and Compliance Questions, and Protecting Your Spectrum Assets.

The annual meeting of the membership will include an overview of advocacy efforts for the year and elections to the Board of Directors.
What is your highest concern with cybersecurity and your networks or your customers’ networks?
EWA members not only face the potential of attacks on their own operations including customer data, but they are also often part of the cybersecurity team for their customer’s operations because wireless networks are at the core of utility grids, IoT, autonomous systems, and supply chains. Learn from experts who will discuss current threats and share best practices for fortifying and monitoring networks.
Prash Ramani, Motorola Private LTE Solutions Account Manager presents on CBRS, which he describes as “a very exciting space, a very exciting ecosystem”. Prash will do a high-level description of the evolution of CBRS and how it fits into the wireless landscape and present use cases for what it will bring to your company and your users.
When will 6G be a reality for most Americans?
Who better than one of the architects of 5G to bring us insights into the practical opportunities of 6G? Wireless Hall of Fame honoree and NYUWireless founder Dr. Theodore “Ted” Rappaport, a dynamic speaker and educator, will share unique insights into the impact and potential of 6G. By 2035, 6G will be capable of “wireless cognition”, the ability to send wireless signals at the rate of human computation and much more. Ted is a pragmatic entrepreneur and inventor who will focus on how to use your expertise as a wireless dealer, operator or vendor to thrive in the 6G world.
Are you a 900 MHz licensee required to retune your system? If so, do you know your next steps? Join this networking session with EWA’s 900 MHz transition experts to openly discuss the retune process and answer all of your questions.
Speed Networking gave attendees, speakers and sponsors an opportunity to meet each other and chat, or join sponsored tables with representatives from JVCKENWOOD USA Corp., Icom America, Leonardo, Mission Critical Communications, Motorola Solutions, Rimot, and Unication/Prism-IP.
Experts in the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) will discuss the “real-world” applications for this band, examining what is possible today—and what may be coming tomorrow. This session will also examine practical considerations of access to equipment and possible effects of this technology on attendee businesses.
In what area do you believe more education is needed related to CBRS?
Jason Brennan, Product Manager, JVCKENWOOD USA Corp., speaks to the fact that IoT has existed for years in the LMR industry in other forms. The right assessment of your current system assets, including existing coverage and services, can perfectly position your company to expand into CBRS and other LTE technologies.
A post COVID-19 workforce may be very different without the requirement for everyone to office in a central location. This new reality gives rise to the possibilities of using remote employees, gig workers and subject-matter experts as work-from-anywhere employees. Retaining this fluid workforce will require new recruitment, retention, and management tools.
What changes have you made in your company’s work force because of Covid-19?
Digital anthropologist, futurist, and best-selling author Brian Solis will explore how the convergence of automation, AI, industrial IoT, 5G, and VR/AR will augment and revolutionize how we work. Additionally, he’ll review the role of technology and also how people collaborate with intelligent machines to unlock new applications.
